Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God. – John 3:20-21
Thoughts on Today’s Verse
Today’s verse is from the Book of John. What does it really mean?
It’s saying that people who do wrong stuff don’t like being in the light. It’s like when we were kids and hid our messy room from our parents because we didn’t want to get in trouble. When we do bad things, we don’t want people to know about them. We hide because we are scared that others will see our mistakes.
But there’s a happy part in our verse too. It says when we are honest and do what’s right, we can walk in the light. This means we can stop hiding. We don’t have to be scared because we’re choosing to do good things.
Living by the truth is like living the way God asks us to. When we do things God’s way, we can walk in the light with our heads high. People can tell that the good stuff we do comes not from us alone, but from God working in us. So, this verse is saying that by being true, we can show God’s love to everyone.
My Prayer
Dear God,
Help me to always do what’s right. I know sometimes it’s hard. It’s like when I really want to eat candy before dinner, but I know it’s not good for me. Help me to remember to do the right thing, even when it’s hard.
God, thank you for your light. Help me to walk in your light and not hide. I want to be honest and kind, like you. I want to be brave and not be scared, because I know you’re there with me.
Let people see you in me. Let them see your love when I share my toys, help my friends, or listen to my parents. And help me to always live by the truth.
In your name, I pray. Amen.
