Daily Devotional: September 28, 2023 – 1 Corinthians 2:14

“The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

Hi friends, today let’s unpack the deep meaning hidden in the verse 1 Corinthians 2:14. You see, it’s something like wearing a pair of 3D glasses. Ever watched a 3D movie without glasses? The screen looks blurry, you can’t make sense of the images. You get the glasses, and voila! Everything leaps into focus and comes to life.

Guess what? Recognizing and understanding the teachings of God are quite similar. Without God’s Spirit, His teachings might appear fuzzy or even nonsensical – just like the 3D movie without the glasses. The Spirit helps us make sense of it all. It’s like a special lens through which we can see God’s plan for us.

Now, this is not about feeling superior to others. It’s about growing in God’s love and learning to see ourselves and others through His eyes. By asking for His Spirit, we can comprehend His truths and directions.

So, let’s wish for these special glasses- God’s Spirit. By praying to comprehend things as He does, we make ourselves closer to Him. Always remember, God adores every one of us and He eagerly wishes to impart His knowledge to us. So let our hearts be open to Him!

My Prayer

Beloved Lord, today we open our hearts and minds to You. We humbly ask that you bless us with Your Holy Spirit. Please guide us to see with Your eyes, to understand the deep treasures of Your Word.

Help us, dear God, not to see Your truths as foolishness but to perceive them with the wisdom that comes from you. Like sorting out a puzzle, may Your Spirit guide us to make sense of Your teachings.

We desire not superiority but understanding, not power but love. Help us draw closer to You and see the world and everyone in it as You do.

We trust in Your boundless wisdom, love, and guidance. Help us to grow closer to you each day, in understanding, and in love.

In Jesus’s name, we pray. Amen.
