Daily Devotional: September 27, 2023 – Matthew 6:33

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

Today, let’s think about a verse close to my heart – Matthew 6:33, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ” What a powerful message!

Imagine a big bowl. This bowl is our life. Now, imagine trying to fit big rocks, small pebbles, and sand into it. If we put in our pebbles (our small wishes) and sand (our trivial worries) before the big rocks (our love for God and faith), they’ll fill up our bowl and there won’t be any room for the big rocks.

This verse tells us to place the biggest rock, God’s kingdom and righteousness, before anything else. When we do that, everything else will find its place in the bowl. Our petty anxieties won’t take up too much space. Our smaller desires won’t overshadow what truly matters. All the big and important things will fit in just right and our life will be complete and fulfilled.

It’s not easy to remain focused on this path and that is okay. It’s always a constant evolution. Understanding this verse can help us set our priorities, and remind us what to keep at the forefront of our lives.

My Prayer

Dear God, guide us in making You our priority. Let Your kingdom and righteousness be the big stones in our life’s jar.

In moments of worry or when our dreams cloud our faith, remind us to focus on You first. As we navigate through life’s ups and downs, sometimes our vision blurs. Gently steer us back on track, Lord. Replace our fears with faith in You, and our small dreams with Your righteousness. Fill our minds with Your love and lead us along life’s journey.

In Your divine name, we pray. Amen.

  1. I just finished reading your daily devotional and praying the prayer at the end. I want to say thank you very much. I’ve already ordered a Bible case quite expensive but worth every dime , and I love it and I believe it will last me a lifetime, although the size was too small for my Bible I believe your company is correcting the issue. Thank you for everything.

  3. Good morning Miss Elaine I know you and your company are probably tired of me but I am not very familiar with how to send a email I am used to handling everything over the phone. Lol so I am so sorry I have sent so many emails because I’m not sure if I’m doing it right I don’t mean to keep sending so many thank you for the daily devotional. I just feel like the enemy didn’t want me to have the right size Bible case and he’s working on my spirit.
