“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense — Jesus Christ the Righteous One.” – 1 John 2:1
Thoughts on Today’s Verse
What a comforting verse we have from John today! It wraps around us like a warm loving hug from a parent. He suggests that we should try our hardest not to sin. Yet, he kindly acknowledges that we’re only human and there will be times when we stumble and fall. That’s just part of being human, and it’s completely okay.
But here’s the beautiful part: Even when we fall, we aren’t left alone. Jesus, the Righteous One, is there for us. Comprehending his righteousness is like trying to understand how vast the ocean is, it’s enormously unfathomable.
Just imagine this: We make a mistake and sin. We feel guilty, sad, and alone. Yet, in those moments of despair, Jesus steps in. He’s our perfect advocate – our holy defense attorney, standing up for us before our heavenly Father.
It’s like having an older brother who’s always ready to protect his younger sibling, no matter what. Remember, even when we land in trouble, we’re not alone. We always have someone who has our back, who’s ready to defend us.
And isn’t that just a thought that warms your heart? Remembering that Jesus is always with us, like having an invisible shield, can make us feel braver, stronger, and loved.
Just like when we carry our cherished Bible in its stylish leather cover. It’s not just a book we’re carrying. It’s the promise that we’re never alone and that we’re loved, always.
My Prayer
Dear God, we are so grateful to have Jesus on our side. We often fall and stumble, but knowing Jesus is there to pick us up, makes the load feel lighter.
Help us remember, Lord, that it’s okay to make mistakes and it’s okay to sin, because we have Jesus, our protector. He’s there guiding us, holding us, speaking for us.
Father, please give us the strength to do better daily. Strengthen us to keep our hearts clean and actions pure, but when we do fail, remind us that it’s not the end.
Thank You for the comfort that we’re not alone on our journey. Like carrying our favorite Bible on its stylish cover, You remind us that Your love is always with us.
Amen.
