Daily Devotional: September 06, 2023 – John 14:23

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” – John 14:23

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

Today’s verse comes from John 14:23. It reads, “Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.'”

Such a beautiful promise! It reminds us that God doesn’t just want us to believe in him, but to love him. That love is shown through obeying His teachings. Every time we choose to act in love, kindness, and truth, we show that we love God.

This verse also shows us that our relationship with God is not a one-way street. He rewards our love with His own love, much stronger and purer than anything we can imagine.

The most intriguing part is the promise of God making His home with us. He doesn’t just visit; He settles down, bringing His peace, wisdom, and guidance into our everyday lives. This means in everything we do we carry God’s presence with us.

What an uplifting message for today. Now, let’s take our reflection a notch higher. Let’s bridge the gap between simply reading these sweet words and living them every day.

My Prayer

Dear God, I thank You for Your unending love. I am in awe that You choose to make your home with me.

Help me to always follow Your teachings, showing my love for You through my actions. Give me the wisdom to make choices that honor You and the courage to consistently act in love and truth. Please continue to guide me, so that I may feel Your presence in all that I do.
