Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: To believe in the one he has sent.” – John 6:29
Thoughts on Today’s Verse
In our verse of the day, John 6:29, Jesus says, “The work of God is: to believe in the one he sent.” This is a powerful reminder of what God’s work truly is.
You might think doing God’s work is about doing chores, or helping others, or being kind. And yes, those things are part of doing God’s work. But Jesus tells us there’s something more central and important: believing in Him. It may seem simple, but it’s not always easy.
Sometimes we have questions and doubts. Sometimes our belief in Jesus gets tested. But the beauty of this verse is that it reminds us of the core of our faith – believing and trusting in Jesus. This is what God wants from us – our faith, our belief, and our trust, even when times are tough.
And when we do believe, that’s when we start to see the wonders of God’s work in our lives and in the world around us. Let’s keep believing, let’s keep trusting, and let’s keep doing God’s work by having faith in Jesus, the one He sent.
Let’s keep this in our hearts and minds, and use it to guide our prayer.
My Prayer
Dear God, help us to hold onto our faith in Jesus, even when times are tough. Deepen our belief in Him who You sent. Strengthen our trust, ease our doubts, and help us witness Your work in our lives.
May our faith lead us to live the way You desire. Remind us that by simply believing, we are doing Your work.
Amen.
