“Let him who boasts boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” – 2 Corinthians 10:17-18

Thoughts on Today’s Verse

Today, we find ourselves at the heart of an important teaching nestled within the pages of 2 Corinthians 10:17-18. This isn’t just a couple of lines scribbled in an ancient book, but a profound life guidance that resonates even in today’s world.

These lines may get you thinking: Is it wrong to be proud of what we’ve achieved? Of course not. However, this passage lends the wisdom of understanding where our boasting should be directed. It shines a light on the beauty of humility. Our pride in our accomplishments shouldn’t outshine our thankfulness for the divine gifts that made them possible. Are not our strength, wisdom, and skill graces from above?

This verse nudges us to realize that real approval doesn’t spring from self-praise or praise from others, but it comes from the divine, the one who observes all, knows all, and above all, loves all.

It is about realizing and accepting that our successes are merely the fruits of His boundless grace working within and through us. Let’s allow this wisdom to sink in and let’s embrace the humbling truth that we’re simply vessels for the divine, and that the true glory of our achievements belongs to Him.

Stay with us, as we’ll weave these reflections into a heartfelt prayer.

My Prayer

Dear Lord, instill within us humble hearts that rejoice in every accomplishment knowing they are a blessing from You. Help us to keep our pride centered on You, acknowledging that we are mere vessels of Your divine will.

May we seek approval not in self-praise or human affirmations, but in our faithfulness to You. Gratefully, let us accept that every success is a manifestation of Your unfailing love and guidance. Enable us to truly boast in You and to You, directing all our triumphs towards Your infinite glory.

In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
